Swim, Bike, Run

10 weeks to an Olympic distance triathlon. Am I insane? Quite possibly, but it'll be fun.

Day 28

Nice day. =) I have a cold or something but that doesn't mean I couldn't bike the 10 miles! Which, I did. =) I amuse myself, honestly.

Water: 2l
Food: garlic bread, chicken fingers, onion rings, steak, salad, a few chips, fudgesicle

Saturday, July 29, 2006

Day 27

Up at the crack of dawn for a 5 mile run. It was much easier than I'd worried it would be. Since I've only been doing 3-4 miles I had sort of panicked that maybe that was all I had in me any more. Well, not the case. I could have easily run another mile or two after the 5 I was scheduled. So, yay! =) It was, let it not be forgotten, crazy hot. Like at 5:30am, the humidex was already 32C. *whimper*

Water: 1.5l
Food: cherries, nuts, chips and salsa

Friday, July 28, 2006

Day 26

Had a nice, if humid, run this morning. In the rain. Now THAT is dedication. ;) 3 miles.

Water: 2l
Food: pickle chips, fudgesicle, chicken, rice, nuts

Thursday, July 27, 2006

Day 25

Ug. Not feeling well. Scheduled workout was 3 mile run and 300 yard swim. I think I'll do 10 miles on the bike and 300 yards swimming. I'll run tomorrow. It's too hot and I feel too ill to do more. Update: swimming done. 10 miles biking done. My average speed is increasing, so that feels pretty nice. =)

Water: 2l
Food: pretzels, chicken, granola bar, turkey and mushrooms, brown rice

Wednesday, July 26, 2006

Day 24

10 miles on the bike. =) It was nice, actually. I spent an hour or so playing in the park with Cori's girls, which was also nice. =) All around good day.

Water: 2l
Food: pretzels, fudgesicle, gummi worms, pizza

Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Day 23

Today is supposed to be a recovery week with today's schedule being 300 yards swimming and 3 miles running. Finally got some solid sleep last night, so that's a good thing! Update: OK, ran 3 miles and did the swimming. It all worked out in the end. =)

Water: 2l
Food: pretzels, chicken, grilled cheeseburger, ice cream

Day 22

Rest day and that's a good thing.

Water:2l
Food: whole wheat pasta, pretzels, chicken, mashed potatoes

Sunday, July 23, 2006

Day 20 and Day 21

I was out of town, so I'll be doing the bike ride on Monday and then just picking up with the next week of exercise.

Water: 2l
Food: nectarine, toast, candy, garlic bread, cheeseburger, baked chips, whole wheat pasta

Friday, July 21, 2006

Day 19

Ug. 10 mile bike ride scheduled for today but I've been feeling sick all day and throwing up all evening. Ug.

Water: 2l
Food: whatever stays down

Thursday, July 20, 2006

Day 18

Beautiful day, despite the humidity. =) Had a lovely run of 3 miles. I don't know if I'll be able to go swimming (500 yards scheduled) because I have a couple of really bad scratches from a certain bad kitty. They're pretty deep and sting just sitting here. I can't imagine getting chlorine in it. *shudder*

Water: 1l
Food: yogurt and cereal, cherries

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Day 17

I'm so very tired today. Poor sleep plus exhaustion will do that to a person, I'm thinking. Anyway! 10 miles on the bike today. =) Update: not feeling very well today, actually. I'll bike in a little bit, though. Update: OK, did the biking. Whee! 10 miles. =)

Water: 2.5l
Food: apple, cereal and yogurt, whole wheat pasta, popsicle

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Day 16

Just did the scheduled 3.5 mile run. I need to shower then take Ninja to the vet for another dose of drugs and then go swimming. It's my mom's birthday today. =) She's 67. It's hard to imagine, really. 500 yards of swimming today. Should be good. =) I also need to mail some packages. Busy day! Update: swim completed. And I did it in pretty good time, less than 20min. Sa-weet! But now I'm tired and I still have errands to run. No rest for the wicked, as the saying goes.

Water: 2.5l
Food: yogurt and cereal, apple, turkey and vegetable teriyaki, cherries, steak, mashed potatoes, mushrooms

Monday, July 17, 2006

Day 15

No such thing as global warming, my ass! I feel like a puddle of goo. I ran 3 miles and I'll swim later. This is a make-up day for last Thursday when I was on KittenWatch. Update: I think I'll swim on Wednesday. I'm pretty tired today and it's really hot for me to walk to the pool in 40C+ humidex.

Water: 2.5l
Food: yogurt and cereal, cherries, turkey, vegetables, popsicle, mushroom panzerotti, licorice

Sunday, July 16, 2006

Day 14

Brutally hot today, so I'll be biking inside rather than outside. Humidex is hitting 43C, so it's for the best, I think. =) I'll be riding 10 mile later in the afternoon. Update: 10 miles of riding. Very good ride. =)

Water: 2.5l
Food: cherries, cereal and yogurt, celery, chicken burger, chicken breast, broccoli, cherries, orange sherbet

Saturday, July 15, 2006

Day 13

Oh. My. Lord is it awful outside. Humidex was at 31 when I ran the 4 miles scheduled at 6:15 this morning. I thought I was going to pass out. But I did it. Go me! =)

Water: 2l
Food: yogurt and cereal, chicken, cherries, broccoli, chicken burger, M&Ms

Friday, July 14, 2006

Day 12

Super hot outside. Ninja's doing a lot better, so that's good. Had to walk a ziploc bag full of kitty poo down to the vet. My life is so sophisticated.

Biked 8 miles. Easy peasy. =)

Water: 2l
Food: yogurt and cereal, chicken, popsicle, bean burritos

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Day 11

Didn't sleep well last night, I was in the guest room with the kittens. Well, that plus worrying made it difficult to get much sleep. Not overly surprising. Ninja is doing better, so that's a good thing. =)

Today is a 3 mile run and 500 yard swim. I'm going to try to get those in, but Ninja still needs some tests done at the vet.

Update: OK, didn't get to workout. John didn't get home until almost 9, which is too late to get to the pool.

Water: 2l
Food: yogurt and cereal, chicken and potatoes, spinach and potato roti, popsicle

Day 10

Ninja wasn't feeling well, so the day was mostly spent going between the vet and home. I did bike the 10 miles last night after we brought her home for the night.

Water: 2l
Food: plum, cheese sandwich, popcorn, chicken, potatoes

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Day 9

Nice weather, icky smell. While I really enjoy running, and did 3 miles this morning, I could do without the aroma of garbage day. Pee-you! Going to swim later, so that should be nice. =) Bonus: it's not garbage day in that direction, thankfully! Update: excellent swim! I finished the 300 yards in just under 10min. Woo hoo! =) Headachy, though, so that sucks. Ah well, you have to take the good with bad. (and yes, I did just break into the Facts of Life theme song)

Water: 1.5l
Food: soup, chicken, peanuts, brown rice, homemade kung pao chicken

Monday, July 10, 2006

Day 8

Rest day. With the weather, I'm glad I'm not biking today. =) I'm hoping that swimming will go well tomorrow after my run-in with Lance last night. Oy.

Water: 2l
Food: cereal, cheese, cherries, chicken, fries, skittles, pizza

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Day 7

Woke up to a beautiful morning. Fought with the cats over my socks and shoes then went for a 12 mile ride. The schedule said 10 miles but I figured it was easier to just make a full hour instead of 50 minutes. =) Going to watch the World Cup finals this afternoon so that should be fun. =) Update: walked around 3 miles today, which is good. Food wasn't great, but it could have been a lot worse since we were walking around a street fair. =) And at least the fudge bar was sugar-free and fat-free. =)

Water: 1.5l
Food: cereal, pizza slice, Doritos, 2 bites of tiramisu, 2 bites of a chocolate cupcake, fudgesicle, whole wheat pasta

Saturday, July 08, 2006

Day 6

Beautiful morning for a run. And run I did! 3 miles, as per the workout schedule. =) I did a bit of a demi-loop in the neighbourhood and saw some new streets. It was nice. =)

Water: 2l
Food: cereal, chicken and vegetables, fudgesicle, cucumber, vegetables, toast, steak, cereal, um... ice cream

Friday, July 07, 2006

Day 5

Friday. No workout scheduled for today. I'm going to assume it's because the person writing the schedule wanted me to take an extra day off this week. =) How nice of them!

Water: 2l
Food: cereal and yogurt, grape tomatoes, soup, um... Sixlets, cereal, chicken and pasta, carrots

Thursday, July 06, 2006

Day 4

Still feeling pretty good. Not overtired or sore anything, which is good. =) I've already done the 2 mile run and will be swimming 300 yards at 1. I'm pretty happy with how well it's all going. It feels like the pieces are all falling into place. Update: Swim completed. It was nice and pretty fast, overall. =) It takes me longer to shower and change afterward than it does to swim 300 yards. That won't always be the case, as my swim distances will keep increasing but I'm trusting that my showering and dressing will remain constant. =)

Water: 2l
Food: yogurt and cereal, nectarine and carrots, soup, sugar-free fudgesicle, grape tomatoes and cheese sandwich, popcorn and hot chocolate

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Day 3

Today is an 8 mile bike and I think I'll throw in weights, too. I feel pretty good physically and no headache. Yay. =) However, the water is off until 2pm today so I'll be biking after that. Update: biked 13.65km in under 38min. Not racing speed, but not bad. =) Walked for 45min this evening, so that's a good thing. =)

Water: 1l, so far
Food: cereal and watermelon, more cereal and cherries, chicken, 1c whole wheat pasta, cucumbers and carrots, fudgesicle

Tuesday, July 04, 2006

Day 1 and Day 2

Monday was a rest day.

Tuesday is a 3 mile run and 300 yard swim. I've done the run and will swim at 1-ish. So far, everything is peachy. =) Update: walked 3 miles round trip to swim and, well, swam. =)

Water - 1.5 litre so far
Food - yogurt and cereal, Skittles and carrots, and pickles, noodle soup and cereal
